Paint as you like

I have been asked few times what do I paint these dramatic marines. The best way to answer the question is, by showing you how its done. Here it is! First time-lapse of the painting "Before the Sunset". I chose marine as the subject because its very close to my heart. Every time I go away on holidays I take crazy amount of photographs of harbours boats and ships. There is something I cannot explain that drives me towards them. I love the sounds of boats floating on the water and those wonderful reflections live in my mind for a long time. The dramatic feel has been achieved by building a contrast between smooth shades of the cloudy sky and sea with a strong palette knife work of the boats. The more sharp edges the better.
